If we peer down on Earth, are there signs of intelligent life?
William McDonough shares his perspective on this provocative question in an interview short with the California Environmental Legacy Project.
We often don’t step back from the world we live in and think about it from an entirely different perspective. One that causes us to consider the world afresh – to fathom the full impact we’ve had on the environment while at the same time acknowledge our deep and enduring connection to it.
That’s exactly what William McDonough has done for us here. He takes us on a short journey in which he shows us that the signs of intelligent life are less visible to us when we take a step back and think.

This is the first in a series of short videos based on interviews the Legacy Project conducted with scientists, educators and business leaders sharing their perspectives on how we reconcile nature and civilization. We will be posting these interviews periodically, so if you like this one stay tuned for more in the coming weeks and months.
