Award winning jazz guitarist Pat Metheny’s body of work includes compositions for solo guitar, small ensembles, electric and acoustic instruments, large orchestras, and ballet pieces, with settings ranging from contemporary jazz to rock to classical.
One of the most enterprising jazz musicians of his generation, Pat Metheny has won an extraordinary 18 Grammy Awards and has been nominated 33 times in 12 different categories – more than any other performer in Grammy history. Aside from critics’ awards and fan accolades, Pat’s focus remains continually on the breaking down of barriers and the exploration of new musical ideas.
He also has three Gold Records and numerous readers’ poll awards. Metheny has performed with artists as diverse as Steve Reich, Ornette Coleman, Herbie Hancock, Jim Hall, Charlie Haden and David Bowie. His body of work includes compositions for solo guitar, small ensembles, electric and acoustic instruments, large orchestras and ballet pieces, with settings ranging from modern jazz to rock to classical to his latest creation, the Orchestrion.
Legendary musician Pat Metheny will compose original soundtracks for the Legacy Project’s 2-hour public television program, Becoming California, and its initial set of five regional films created for state and national parks across California. Together, these programs are anticipated to reach millions of PBS viewers and visitors to the state’s parks.
