Point Reyes is California’s quintessential geological story of tectonics, devastating earthquakes and ever‐shifting faults.
It’s also a fascinating story of the profound intersection between land and sea, as well as the people who have called it home for centuries. Narrated by Jane Fonda and with original music by renowned musician Pat Metheny, the Legacy Project will use astonishing aerials and 3D animations to tell the story of these interconnections and what it means for us and our future relationship to the land. When completed, the film will show in the Point Reyes National Seashore visitor center.
At first a fascinating tale of the region’s land‐sea connections, the film turns to our future connections to the land and sea and explores sustainable partnerships with nature in what is now one of the only National Parks without gates. Indeed, Point Reyes’ fantastically plentiful natural resources sustained early peoples and they continue to sustain a variety of modern uses today – from dairy and oyster farming to sea lion sanctuaries and tourism. This film looks at the commitment of Park and local leaders to maintain these interconnected natural systems for the uniquely rich lifestyle California’s Northern coast is best known for.
