Bringing global issues home
The Legacy Project is creating high quality films that tell powerful stories of environmental change across California. The package includes visitor films produced for selected state and national parks in California, along with a series of video podcasts. Narrated by Jane Fonda and with original music by Pat Metheny, the park films will be shown in visitor centers at Lassen Volcanic National Park, Coast Redwoods National and State parks, Point Reyes National Seashore, Los Angeles Basin/Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook and Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. The films will begin showing in park visitor centers in spring 2014.
Intended to deepen audience understanding of environmental change at a local and personally relevant scale, the regional films are projected to reach over 400,000 visitors of all ages and backgrounds every year at these selected California parks. Complementing the Becoming California documentary, these multi-platform presentations will enhance public understanding of the environments that actually shape their lives.
The digital-driven project also will bring professional development opportunities to teachers, scientists and digital media producers through collaborative partnerships at each of our locations. Our standard is to create high quality media that are entertaining and inspiring while at the same time scientifically current and accurate.
